If I signed an unlimited 3G contract, and got a subsidized iP4 as incentive, does that mean that if the contract changes, I am free to stop making monthly payments?

This would not happen to them if either: they grandfather contracts bonafide, or they don't grandfather contract terms at all.

Given that att is going to throttle unlimited data, they're still abiding by the terms. I bet there's no guarantee of speed or QOS. Additionally, SCOTUS hobbled easy class actions recently with an att arbitration case, so it's unlikely anyone objecting would prevail.

Their TV commercials are a strong promise of speed. How can they be the fastest, if in fact their are the slowest?

I think they're being generous about it to avoid more negative PR and fleeing users.

Any trivial infraction of a contract does not render the remainder moot.
