[thanks to mods, glory onto thee]

Feel free to praise, moan or piss on the announcement, from the greatness of features and design, to the sheer power and possibilities of the new software, or the fact that you only have the money for the base level iThing which is actually a bad deal, or how good Tim has perfected his own RDF.

Can somebody post a few (or many) online websites with realtime information of today's announcements?

Tim Cook isn't in charge of these forums. Looks like the power has gone to his head already.

NN has done so much better the past few years. I think this year was the first time I can remember it going down during an event in some time.

There's no official thread started by the officials because the NN forums are powered by 233MHz, albeit very pretty, iMac.

Just kidding!

Mmm. Can any Mod fix the date of the thread title?

Red Five reporting in.

So, we'll get an iPhone 4S, maybe an iPhone 5, an update on iCloud, and a surprise.

It almost doesn't matter what the new iPhone is, I'll be buying it. I can't take this 3G anymore.

Engadget got linked from the headline story of huffintonpost (since they don't, you know, do anything themselves). So yeah, now the best source is crawling.

Phil is claiming that the new antenna system will make the 3G-only iPhone 4S just as fast as so-called 4G phones. I can't wait for the online reaction to this claim. An absolute sh!tstorm will ensue.

Spent so much time on the 4S that it seems unlikely to me that there would be an iPhone 5.

That was pretty long. Now time to wait for the keynote to be posted.

This is really lame. Yes, Apple, all that software innovation is incredible. No doubt. But you really dropped the ball with no new design. Why? The same old design. Really? I hate the design of the iPhone 4. It's clunky, doesn't feel good, and is too thick.

I've been using an iPod Touch with FaceTime, Skype, now iMessage, VoxOx, and Email for my communications. I love how thin and light it is. I could never go back to using that big honking iPhone again. I'm really disappointed. While the software is great, Apple's had well over a year to come up with another great design.

Between this, no real design changes on the iPods, no iWork update in sight... I feel Apple has really slowed down since Jobs left.

This opens the door to Android device makers to get some hegemony.

Oh no, don't feed the hype on that. There won't be a redesign. A new iPhone will come out, as always, next year around June-September time-frame. That will be the iPhone 5. But for the better part of another year, this is it. Period.

Frankly it all works great for me, ready to upgrade from an iPhone 3. I really do need more screen real estate (old eyes) but it looks like I will live without and get glasses instead.

but she would be crazy to stay on her falling apart phone if AT&T will subsidize her new 4S at $200.

It's been a year and three months since the iPhone 4 design. That is not slow.

I'm glad the innards have been upgraded, can't wait to get mine.

Not so sold on the Siri thing, it looks cool but will it really work... and will I really use it.

I promised the wife she could have whatever iPhone came out, but otherwise this update would not be very tempting.

This is really funny.

This phone is ENTIRELY new except for the case, display, and name.

Stick a big "5" on the back if you really need something people will ooh and aah over (before they rob you).

This thing is exactly what I wanted. The only thing that pisses me off is that they've just killed the resale value of my 3GS.
