iOS 5 Gmail Exchange Account Sends Reply To My Mac Mail Account

I have an iPhone 4S with my Gmail account set up as an Exchange account. When I reply to an email, my reply is sent to the Inbox on my Gmail account set up as an IMAP account through the Mail application on my MacBook (as if I am sending the e-mail to myself and the intended recipient). I do not have the automatic BCC setting on the iPhone selected. Does anyone know what might be causing this behaviour?

Are google advising people to setup gmail as Exchange now? I would set it up as IMAP unless they are.

My understanding is that using an Exchange account is the only way to take advantage of Push email
