Is there an app where I could talk into the ipad (or even iphone or laptop if necessary), and the text that I just said would appear on the screen. thanks!

Something like a reverse "Voiceover?" Dragon has good accuracy in converting voice to text, and there's an iPhone/iPad version that's free. Is that close to what you're looking for?

Thanks, GG I've never tried anything yet. I have a new deaf friend so I'm just asking. Free sounds good. I saw something online from them that was $600!
Do you have a link to those apps? is there a free laptop version?

Start here.. Dragon for OS X is not free, but it ain't $600 either.
For iOS, go here.. Still free as far as I can see.
