Using iPad to Run OS X on Server

My employer has Windows XP running on a server. When I log on using my iPad (I use iTap RDP) I have a virtual desktop on their server and can use MS Office software as well as other software that they have site licenses for. My documents are saved on the virtual desktop. This works incredibly well, letting me have access to MS Office on my iPad. However, most of my (many) documents are very tightly formatted for MS Office on OS X.
Question: is it possible to have a similar setup for OS X? I can do this with my MacBook Pro and iTap VNC. It works well but the problem is that I have to leave the MacBook on all the time and also it isn't really freely available for others to use it if necessary. What I'd like to do is buy space on someone's server and load OS X and other software onto a virtual desktop. Is this possible?

Logmein.com is great remote access software. However, their app is around $30 for the iPad/iPhone but free for the machine.

Try MacMiniColo. Put a Mac Mini in as your remote Mac and use the iPad to control that. Or put one in at home/office. Wherever you like. Otherwise you'd need to rent a portion of an Intel Xserve from someone to run a virtual copy of Lion. I guess there must be people who will do that for you somewhere.
I thought the new xml based office formats were supposed to fix the formatting issues once and for all?

I've been using Logmein for a while. Overall it is good software. But I find that the mouse control is awkward. So I just started using iTap VNC instead to run my Mac from my iPad because I really like the mouse control. It really makes the iPad feel like a mouse or trackpad for the computer you're running.

OS X doesn't offer anything remotely close to Windows Terminal Server/Remote Desktop Services for remote virtualized displays. The other posters in this thread seem to be largely confusing VNC type software with the enterprise capability you're looking for.
