So the other day, I decided to give linux a try, since I was gonna format and partition my hard disk in a day anyway. So I d/l ed an burned the Mandrake disc images (without mounting them), and booted up from the first one. During the install process, I continually got an error saying "no free space to create 1mb bootstrap partition, the system will not be bootable until it's created" (or something similar to that), even though there was 40gb of free space, and I had chosen the auto partition setup. I got the other necessary partitions created, and I created a /boot partition, 10 mb in size. This let me continue with the install. It went on fine, until it got to the yaboot config step. I got an error giving me some crap about the bootstrap partition, and the install couldn't finish. I reformatted again, and got the same errors. At this point I also had the Jaguar 6c115 install discs, so I just gave up, reformatted, created 2 partitions and installed that.
Does anyone know what would be causing this, and how I would go about fixing it? I'd really like to give Mandrake a try. Thanks.
