will win xp corporate perform a succesful install or must it be a win xp disc with sp2 ?

i was tryin install and got this ""your startup disk cannot be partitioned because verification failed. Start up your macintosh from a mac osx install disc and use disk utility to repair your startup disk" ?"

i fixed that error by repairing using disk utility but then got another friggin error which i guess i'll have to post up. i'm using a macbook pro with tiger os

Any XP will work. The "startup disk" was the HARD DRIVE on your Mac, NOT the XP CD. Boot Camp is a beta; it is not uncommon to have a flaw or two in beta software, and that could have been what caused your partitioning issue. No sweat, just redo Boot Camp's partitioning and you should be fine.

But DO install SP2 once you have XP installed. Really. It's MUCH safer.

I succeeded in installing a crashy version of XP SP1, then downloading the XPSP2 update, making a slipstreamed SP2 install disk, and reinstalling from that. It was painful but it worked.

I used disk utility and used the repair option and it said everything was fixed. new error.

Your startup disk cannot be partitioned becuase some files cannot be moved.

Back up your startup disk and use disk utility to format your startup disk as a single mac Os extended(journaled) volume. Restore your information to the startup disk and try using bootcamp assistant again

Reasons people have uncovered so far for the "files cannot be moved" error:

-you've installed parallels workstation, and the virtual drive for xp can't be moved. Delete the virtual drive until after you've set up bootcamp.

-your hard drive doesn't have enough space to swap your files around. Delete some stuff, or use the procedure described in the first post here: http://forums.macnn.com/104/alternative-operating-systems/291750/boot-camp-experiences/

Make sure you are not running any haxies in the background. Check to see that you closed all your dashboard widgets and that you are not running other programs in the background.

"Haxies" means hacks or patches (that may have affected the OS) that could impact whether or not other OS-affecting software works.
