I'm about to buy a macbook pro and was just wondering if anyone's tried playing oblivion on one with boot camp? Is it playable? Even if it ran in 1024x768 with no AA or bloom at fairly smooth frames it would be worth it.
I really don't want to have to buy a windows laptop. If i could play in my lounge room i would be in heaven.

It's very playable on even higher settings on my iMac (essentially equivalent to an MBP).

It works well. The first time I installed it I got a major error ... something so bad that I couldn't uninstall it. So I wiped Windows, installed all of the windows updates, installed direct x, and then tried again. This time everything is stable.
All I can say is, good luck. :-)

game ran pretty nicely over here! I could play with pretty high settings though when I got into huge fights the game slowed down too much, becoming nearly unplayable, but that was at a resolution higher than 1024x768 and with all settings at max. At 1024x768 with nearly all settings set to max I had no problems playing at all as everything ran pretty smoothly except for a few framerate drops here and there.
I've been playing for a few hours and I can say that you shouldn't worry at all as the Macbook Pro should run it pretty well. I've tested the game on an iMac 20" with 2 Gigs of RAM, 256 VRAM and 2Ghz Core Duo if that helps you!

A GPU and VRAM overclock might help things a bit, but if you fry your logicboard, don't say I didn't warn you.
