Have eMac- fabulous. Have Virtual PC 7- even more fabulous. Have Windows XP- not fabulous.

Apparently I am supposed to get a "press any key" sort of message after I reset the virtual machine that will allow me to boot from the XP disc, but this message never appears. I just get the black screen, blinking cursor and error message. I eject the disc, reinsert, capture it, reset... still no "press any key" message, still no booting.

I've scoured the web for a help file that addresses this problem without any luck. Has anyone else had this issue, or does anyone know how to fix it?

All I wanted was to run my old PC version of photoshop... I didn't think it would take me all night!

edit: I'm running the latest Tiger btw, I have no idea if it makes any difference.

It might help if you told us what the error message was. Windows XP discs should be bootable, but I've had trouble with that with some discs for some reason. You might need to use a boot floppy disk image to boot the virtual machine and then start the Windows setup program from the DOS command line.

Or try clicking the little Capture CD button on the bottom of the Virtual PC screen - it may be that Virtual PC doesn't realize its been loaded into your Mac's CD drive.
