So, I remember when I had Virtual PC and I tried to install a Windows-only application from it's CD. My Powerbook would not even read the disc, it would just spit it out.

Has this changed with Boot Camp or Parallel?

Will the new Intel Macs read any disc burned for Windows?

I am curious because I am thinking about suggesting the switch to a CEO friend of mine, but don't want to waste a bunch of money if this is going to be an issue.

Saw Parallels operating today. It was impressive. What was weird was Activity Monitor was not reporting the actual amount of RAM that Parallels was using. Parallels freed up about 700mb of RAM after it was quit. But when operating, AM reported only 150 or so mb of RAM being used.

It was the OS, NOT the drive that decided to spit out those discs. Remember, when you've done the whole Boot Camp thing, your computer is RUNNING WINDOWS. To even get there, you have to use a Windows install disc. Parallels will accept Windows discs too. How would you load applications otherwise?

I see your reason for being hesitant, but it's cool.
