hi, guys,

i just got my macbook today. loving it. i installed XP on it (with boot camp) and tried to voice chat with my friends on MSN messenger. But during the 1st-time setup of voice/video device for MSN messenger, i found my microphone settings are grayed out. I went ahead and tried to talk to my friend and found that the video was okay (i was using an USB webcam) but my voice was not going thru. I figured this may be because Bootcamp doesn't provide the xp drivers for the built-in mic, so I pluged the microphone of my headphone into the macbook to give it a try but it still didn't work.

Is it really that bootcamp doesn't have XP drivers for Macbook's built-in mic? if so, how come an external mic still doesn't work?

Just get the logitech USB mic. I use that and swear by it.

oh man. just check the price of the logitech USB microphones on their website. The cheapest one is 40 bucks! Aside from the two headsets that i already have, im just thinking what im gonna do with it a few months from now when apple releases the drivers to fix this (i hope). But still, thanks a lot.
