Hello everyone,

I'm trying to install Bootcamp on an Intel-based iMac bought 1 week ago.

When I download the only firmware available for iMac, it's written : for early 2006, and I can't open it : my mac doesn't need any firmware update.

The problem is that when I launch Bootcamp assistant, a message says the firmware update is required.

Do you have any ideas ?

I get a similar message when I try to update the firmware for my SuperDrive on my iMac. It says to call an Apple certified store. Which I haven't done yet.

Got a similar problem.
Bootcamp assitent gives a message that the firmware needs to be updated. Both software and firmware updaters however indicate that the system is up to date. anybody a suggestion how to solve this?

Your link was the SMC part of the firmware update, which I personally did not do yet. I think you will need this, and just for safety, this I guess. Burn the SW restoration disc first, to prevent a dead iMac if a power interruption during firmware upgrading should occur...

Ask about Boot Camp in the Alternative Operating Systems forum and you'll get good answers. Moving...
