If I try to run a Windows .exe file with WINE, it does not seem to find its auxiliary file even if it is in the same directory. Is there any way to tell WINE where the additional files are to provide them to the program?

"Auxillary file?" Windows programs typically have a bunch of extra files that support them, and they must be in "the right" folder for the program to find them. That's what Windows Installer functions do-put those files in the right folders. Are you refering to .dll's and the like?

Yes, and also things like images or sound files used by an application.

No experience with WINE here, but there must be something that lets the installer do its thing so the files will be in the right places. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to run a lot of programs.
