Cheers
Ive put bootcamp on a new ( days ago) Macbook no problem
Im helping a neighbor with a new macBook Pro and did the same insstallation with BC 1.1
got to the window to set windows partition to 10gb and then it took some time to partition.
then the next thing was restart or add windows now ( paraphrase here)
as the guy plans to take the MBP to college he wants to install the college licensed windowsxp, so we restarted and the partition does not apprear on the desk top.
to get the partition do you have to install windows at that same time?
could it be a firmware issue? he MBP is 4 days old.
saw some firmware issues in another thread by md and gh but thought that a firmware update would have had to be with an older MBP
how do I tell if the MPB firmware is up to date?
what else might I do?
cheers

I would try running the Bootcamp install again and see if it recognizes your partition and would allow him to install XP at the college.

I tried the install twice.
beats me whats up.
the firmware should be the latest as the computer is still warm from the factory?
any other ideas?
the hope was to just create the partition and let the college install its licensed windows on that
thanks\\

If the windows partition has been created then just insert the windows cd and run boot camp again. It SHOULD ask you to restart for installation to begin.
You can check the firmware version in the system profiler.
Sorry but it's not clear where the hiccup is.. did boot camp create the partition? or is it not letting you do that? Maybe you need to repair disk permissions using an OS X install disk.
