Please read this very carefully...

I recently got a macbook, and when I spoke with the people of the store, they promise that using boot camp, the following incredible things could be done:
1) We can use mac OS and windows at the SAME time (simultaneously)
2) There is no need to reboot the computer to change from 1 OS to another!!!
3) Since both OS works in a parallel way and simoultaneously, we are able to pass files from one partition to another!!!

Nevertheless, for all that i have read, this is absolutely impossible using bootcamp (forget about paralells, i am talking about boot camp.. that's what they installed in my computer)

I went to the store to say all this to an expert person and their response was that IT IS possible!!!! it is possible to run both OS at the same time and change from one to another just by pressing a combination of keys....
BUT
to achieve this, they told me that I am forced to take a class they give that costs 200 dollars the hour, for a minimum of 2 hours (easily extended to 4 hours)... so if I want to do all this marvellous things, I have to pay 400 dollars...

I still think that it is impossible, and they want to make me pay 400 dollars for a class that teaches me an impossible thing...

What do you say? Should I solve this in a court of law, or is it really possible somehow???

I wait for your answer...
(sorry about not posting in the bootcamp thread...)

You can't run OS X and Windows at the same time with just Boot Camp. All Boot Camp does is partition your drive and give you some drivers for Windows to work right on the machine.

Ok, I have my 2 partitions and my drivers... supposing windows and OS X run well when I reboot my computer

What else is needed to be able to use both systems at the same time and passing from one to another with a combination of keys?

because an "expert" in the MAC store assured to me that this is possible if I take those 400 dollar classes

A $400 class is ridiculous. In order to run both OSs at the same time, you need to use software called Parallels. With Parallels, Windows runs in a virtual machine on OS X.

Chuckit is correct. He said that you can not run them at the same time using Boot Camp.

You're not going to have much of a case if you complain in a court of law, because despite this one idiot in charge of the Apple Store, Apple has never advertised Boot Camp as being able to do this.

You can, however, file a complaint with Apple. This "expert" clearly doesn't understand what he is doing, and believe it or not, Apple doesn't actually want clueless "experts" in their stores.

Yeah, I already sent a complain to apple

The thing is that in Chile, mac computers selling increased a lot when they started to say this lies... as a matter of fact, that is the reason why I got a mac...

In the US, having an Apple store employee say that would be sure to get him/her fired. Ignorance is one thing, but that sounds very much like extortion.

Especially the $400 classes to run two systems at once with Boot Camp. WTF?

You mentioned it in your first post: Parallels. Yes, it costs a bit and it's not as perfect as booting Windows on your Mac. It's unfortunate that you encountered idiots at the Apple Store. That definitely wouldn't fly in the U.S. (at least I would hope not! I'd report such an employee).

Well, the problem is not with 1 employee, but with many of them.

5 different employees (not related between them) told me the same lie!!! So the problem is that every employee on the mac store (actually there are 3 stores of this distributor here in Santiago) think that it's possible to do all this with bootcamp, so... at the end EVERYBODY on the company finish thinking the same thing, like a chain reaction.

Tomorrow I hope I will have a word with the manager...

I'm really curious what they teach in that $400 class. That's sketchy as hell.

Hehe. If this is properly reported there will be only 2 stores distributing Apple computers in Santiago by the end of this week

Is it an official Apple™ store? He calls it a MAC store, then mentions "(actually there are 3 stores of this distributor here in Santiago)," making me think it's a CompUSA or something...
How many cities have THREE Apple stores?

I didn't think they had official Apple stores in Chile.

They are "authorized distributors", but i meant that this same authorized distributor has 3 stores, so a lot of employees... that was my point

I finally spoke with the high authorities of this company... this is the response:

1) yeah, you need parallels to do what we promise, but we don't support parallel, so we are not able to do that for you... (FOK!!! you promise that!!!)
2) They accepted that they do the installation of bootcamp incompletely... ( Yeah, I wonder why the drivers didn't work)
3) They accepted that the people that work in the store are not prepared... the excuse was "because we have to give job to people"... (I was wondering why they were unable to answer my questions)

This is a joke... I'm shoked
