I love Bootcamp and I give so much credit to the guys who started this whole revolution of been able to use XP on my MBP. But the process of having to reboot to enter XP is a slight hassle and I'm just wondering if there is any chance Leopard's final version of BootCamp will be reboot-free. Or if it's even possible. Parallels doesn't get the job done cuz I need full d3d/OpenGL support. Thanks

It would be a different technology. BootCamp isn't so much an application as it is a set of windows drivers. iirc Apple has said they plan to leave this up to third parties like VMWare and Parallels.

I think that if there were a chance that BootCamp would be reboot- free, they would have given it a different name.

Apple could develop a hypervisor that could run both Mac OS X and Windows using hardware VT and ship it with newer Macs, but they've said that they aren't doing it for Leopard. More likely a feature in some future Mac - like Front Row - and then possibly backported to other Macs in Leopard+1.

A "no-reboot" Boot Camp is probably not going to happen-though there may be a better version of Parallels involved with Leopard's release...

And please let's keep Boot Camp-related threads in the Alternative OS forum, where they belong? Moving...
