Wireless keyboard does not let me hit the <Enter> key to finish the install of Windows. I suppose I need to use a USB keyboard and try again, BUT how do I get the windows CD out of the drive?

I shut down hoping it would pop out, but it just starts installing windows again, then gets stuck when you have to hit <Enter>

Using my WIndows laptop to try to get an answer.

Any quick advice?

OK. I did the <alt> after a hard start and have my iMac back. I am running to my office to steal a USB keyboard. That may get me through install, but will Boot Camp ever work with the wireless Apple keyboard?

Thanks

Guess I will have a conversation by myslef.

Now keyboard worked, but windows said it had to format the partion. It did not give the option of FAT 32, so I hit escape to stop windows install. Now Mac when started gives me a white screen with a tiny arrow, with no mouse or keyboard control.

Why did I try this.

The problem is that the Apple wireless keyboard ain't JUST a wireless keyboard. Windows doesn't have (built in) drivers to handle everything that keyboard does, and this often means that it doesn't see it at all.

Get Windows running with a USB keyboard, load whatever drivers you can find for the exact keyboard you're using, and then try it again. I think it will probably work.

At the point of your last post, I think you need to boot from the OS X DVD and let Disk Utility fix whatever Boot Camp and Windows did to your disk structure. Windows SHOULD offer to format in both NTFS and FAT32-what did the option screen look like?

Page 9 of Apple's BootCamp installation guide says
Important:
The Windows XP installer does not support Bluetooth. Unless you’re using
a laptop computer, you’ll need a USB keyboard and mouse during installation.

I put the USB keyboard in, it worked fine in Apple world. Started the install of Boot camp, computer locked up.

Spent hours with Apple care, and hold.

They confirmed a complete hardware failre. Not reboots with any ket sequences would wake it up. Getting a RMA to return to Apple and get a replacement.

Your computer is the issue? Wow!

I'm glad that Apple is taking care of you, and sorry you've had such problems.

cgc, thanks for the direct quote from the Boot Camp installation guide. I didn't hve time to dig that out.

Sorry to hear that but at least you have a solution. Good luck with your replacement!

Weird, my bluetooth mighty mouse worked quite well during the XP installation - it stopped working after I installed the Apple drivers though!
Now what???

Reinstall the drivers and then restart the computer AND the mouse-turn it off for a few minutes and let it just sit for a bit before turning it back on. There's probably some association conflict going on and removing the mouse from the equation until the computer has fully started up will probably help. You'll probably need a USB mouse for this, just to have a mouse connected for startup, but that should be the worst of your issues.

I'll do a complete reinstall this evening.
If this doesn't help, I will buy a cheap USB keyboard just for Windows (I still have my old USB mouse which is much better than the mighty mouse anyway)!

I can now confirm that the bluetooth mouse and keyboard only work if I do NOT install the Apple drivers CD! That's stupid and weird!
What do I need the Apple drivers for anyway?
The only difference I saw was that the iSight became useable!
