I know that when you install windows you partition a part of your HDD space just for windows, but since im going to get an 80gb drive it might get a little tight because Im going to be using OSX 99.9% of the time, so can you put the windows part on an external say, LaCie drive?

You can put the applications and data on an external drive without any problem. But the OS iteslf MUST stay on the internal drive in your Mac. Windows does NOT handle booting from an external drive. It doesn't care at all where anything else is, but it cannot boot from an external drive.
