I'm running SUSE Linux on Parallels on my MacBook. I can get to the printer on my G5 via Airport and CUPS and I can connect to the Linux desktop via Samba from both the MacBook and the G5. The problem is that SUSE can see both Macs, but I can't access the folders on them--the authentication dialog comes up, but the passwords don't work. It seems like there's something else I should have done on the Macs, but other than check the box on the Sharing panel, I don't know what. I've also tried resetting passwords via the Terminal on the Macs with smbpasswd, and that fails too. This behavior is the same on the MacBook and two different systems on the G5. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Problem solved--I don't know if it has happened to other people or not, so here's what I found. For some reason, the passwords used by Samba on the Macs were corrupt--when I tried to add a user in the Sharing panel, or remove his Samba access, I was consistently told that the password I entered was incorrect, on both machines, two accounts on each. After going to the Accounts pref pane and resetting the passwords for these accounts, the new passwords were accepted by the Sharing panel. They were also now accepted when I connected to the Macs from the Linux VM(The MacBook is new and I migrated my user settings over from the G5, which might explain why they were both broken the same way.)
