Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but wanted to ask anyway. I'm running XP Home on my Mac Pro. Installed iTunes to have some music. When I ran the visualizer, it ran very slowly and choppily (is that a word?) I also ran it with "smoother but lower quality" and had the same problem.

Can anyone explain this? Does this mean I'm having a general problem with my video system on the Pro?

System: Mac Pro 2.66, 2gb RAM, X1900 XT video card

Thanks,

Clark

I'm not sure that this really means anything. After all, the windows version of iTunes is a completely different program, despite the fact that it looks and does the same thing, so some things may be faster, some slower. For example, I've always seen that iTunes is slower to rip CDs in OSX.

I think that the visualiser is run by the CPU, and not the GPU. If it is multi-threaded, then I'd expect it to run at half speed because XP home only lets you use two of your cores.

iTunes for Windows sucks. I also noticed that it ran slower than it should.

iMacfan: well, it shouldn't require more than /1/ core to run the visualizer at a smooth framerate...
