Okay, there's got to be something really dumb I'm doing here, but...

I'm trying to install Windows XP SP2 VLE on a Mac Mini and a MacBook Pro C2D. Burnt the driver CD, partitioned the drive, rebooted, ran the installer, formatted C: as NTFS, installed onto C:, the Mac reboots again, and it tries booting from the CD.

Which I'm fairily certain isn't intended. Anyway, so I reboot again, hold alt this time, select the Windows drive to boot from, and the screen goes black, and stays black. It does this on both the Mac Mini and the MacBook Pro.

Help? Please? Anyone? All the documentation says is "After you install the Windows XP software, your computer automatically restarts using Windows", and, erm, well, it doesn't!

Let's move this to the Alternative Operating System forum, shall we? That's where it goes-as the description of the Mac OS X forum specifies.

And you should be prompted by the computer as to whether or not you want to boot from the CD, with something like "press any key to boot from the CD..." Are you getting such a prompt?

No... thought I remembered seeing something like that, when installing on a PC, but no... booting from CD, it goes black, flashes white, back to black, then a cursor appears in the top left corner, back to black, then "Setup is checking your computer's configuration" (or something similar), then back to black for quite a while, then it goes blue with the "Windows Setup" header...
