I hope this is not repetitive but I could not find an answer on this or any other forum.
I have a basically new Mac Book Pro. Had it running with Windows XP in bootcamp all fine. All systems go.
Last week my network connection at school failed and it would not allow me to sign on - so that I can use shared printers. The internet connect was still working. Then it wasn't. I have no idea what happened or what went wrong.
Long story short I cannot get an internet connection to work on my windows side - mac side works fine, and finally even got it working on parallels, which I installed to temp. by pass these troubles.
I am not very PC savvy, but I have tried numerous things including re-installing (without deleting) the mac drivers, which seem to all be current.
MY GUESS: The trouble seems to lie somewhere in the drivers. Perhaps the PC got online and tried to update a driver it shouldn't have...
I have all the proper devices in my networkwork adapters in the device manager (2 Broadband (1392 and something else that i cannot remember the name, i am working from my mac now... wireless and 2 bluetooth devices), however these do not all appear in my network places - only one option for LAN/Broadband (1392) where there used to be two for bridging and no option for wireless - which is how I connect at home.
(BTW my home cable systems is also not working on the PC - though it is on my macs, and I tried to plug directly with the cable ethernet, but no luck, it doesn't seem to the port).
(Also, In trying to repair the one LAN it says that it does not have access to the IP, and that the provider should be contacted...)
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
I have been told that I might need to reinstall windows/bootcamp from not very mac savvy folk, but I am hoping this is not the case, as I had just recently done a re-install.

Oh one more thing: I had service pack 2 with my copy - so that is up to date.
I am wondering: If in reinstalling my vaid/legal copy of windows several times on this machine (dues to issues with bootcamp and using parallels) could there be some block with the copy even though the code seemed to work fine upon installation and activation?
I have not yet contacted Windows tech. support... if that even really exists... (?)
thanks again!

Installing the same copy of Windows on the same hardware over and over will not raise any flags. In fact it's not terribly unusual for a Windows user to reinstall several times.
Don't bother with Microsoft for tech support on this issue-it's not likely to have anything of use to you.
Now we'll need a lot more information, starting with what you mean by "my Internet connection" not working. Do you mean that you have no network connectivity? How have you determined this? There are a lot of simple ways to check your connection, starting with opening a command line window (like the Terminal) and typing "ipconfig /all" (no quotes) which tells you everything there is to know about your hardware. So please run that, copy what's on the screen, and post what you get and we can then get started looking at what's giving you this problem.
