How do you get Parallels to 'hit' the local built-in webserver as in http://localhost in Win IE works as Safari in Mac OS X host?
I have only Bridget Ethernet as a selected option in Network, and other methods are grayed out, and trying to add a new connection.
Thanks.

You won't be able to use localhost to access your site, as this is a Unix thing, and would loopback to the Windows machine even if it did work. I'd suggest using your IP address, and not using a Bridged connection.

Is it possible to not Bridge as it's set up this way, and all other options are grayed out?
I didn't know about localhost being a Unix convention; thanks. It sure solves problems when you're roaming networks though. Bummer.

What you might try is from your Windows machine, type in your WAN IP address, and setup your router to forward requests on port 80 to your Mac.
I've never used Parallels, so I have no idea whether or not Parallels provides some sort of NAT networking option.

Yeah, that ain't gonna work, as I have a separate server intercepting Web traffic on our static.
Thanks, though. Would've been cool to access localhost from anywhere... I could try mucking with the Windows hosts file? But the IP would change, no?

Windows doesn't have an /etc/hosts file. No IP addresses are modified by editing this file under Unix.

Huh? Where would this test.dev address be stored? DNS? /etc/hosts on your Mac?
You can Google a loopback IP address for Windows, you could try 127.0.0.1 (the loopback address under Unix), but I don't think the alias "localhost" will work - the IP might though.
Try pinging the 127.0.0.1 address on your Windows box and see what happens. If it responds, try connecting to it by going a Start -> Run -> \\127.0.0.1 and see which machine responds.
If there is no internal address that can be used for loopback, you will have to go outside of the box and loop back. This means using your WAN IP address.

It certainly does.... \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
localhost also resolves correctly under Windows (to 127.0.01).

I get a folder that says "Scheduled Tasks" when I run \\127.0.0.1
I get a "The page cannot be displayed." when trying http://localhost/
I think my network connection needs to be changed, but all other options are grayed out.
