I received a copy of XP with SP2 (ISO) from the MSDN at my school. When Boot Camp asks for my copy of XP, I put that in the drive, but it will not recognize it. I have a MacBook 1.83.
Please help.

I agree. Tell your school that the disc doesn't work and ask for a replacement.
Now if THAT one doesn't work, then there's a problem somewhere... Maybe time to reinstall Boot Camp.

After you put the disk in, you did restart, right? You have to insert the disk, restart, then hold option during the system boot and select the CD. I think the "Start Installation" button does this for you, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the tips. I tried the Options tip, but no dice. I let the school know about the cd and they were clueless. So, I can only hope to find some one with an XP cd.

If it's one of those hologram discs, your MacBook may not read the disc well. (This happened to me, too.) Try making a copy of the disc (on an opaque disc) then use this.

This is interesting. Are you using a MacBook or something else-maybe something that has a dual-layer DVD drive? I can see the hologram goofing up a dual layer drive...
But as is often the case, Windows can get notional, even like this. I've had more than one user report "my fresh-from-Redmond Windows disc won't work, but on a hunch I burned a copy of it and the copy works fine!" Really. In fact, I've "rescued" a number of audio and data CDs this way; a copy program on a PC is apparently much better at reading marginal CDs than the OS itself, and there's no reason to believe that this won't also be the case on a Mac.

Myself, I have a Black MacBook, and I do believe it reads dual-layer DVDs. The Windows XP Pro disc I had (OEM copy, with the holograms) would mount fine under OS X, but when I used it to install Windows, it would sit and hang while trying to read the disc (it sat a black screen, never did get to the blue install screen).
After much unpleasantness, I figured I'd just make a copy and see what happened. Well, what happened is that it worked.

...and another satisfied customer!!!
Seriously, it's weird but it works, so try it before you go to too much other trouble with a weird-acting disc.
