Hi
I'm trying to get Windows XP Home working under Bootcamp 1.1.2. Everything works fine until I install the Bootcamp drivers - then random crashes start occurring.
I initially thought things started going wrong if I did one of 2 things
- Downloaded and installed the most recent version of the windows updater (the first Windows update required before I could get any more security updates...)
- Switched to using username/password logins, rather than the welcome screen.
However, I'm now seeing crashes during the actual Bootcamp drivers installation! If I reboot, then XP just crashes again..
I appreciate that this is Beta software, but is anyone else seeing this, and is there a solution?
I'm finding this quite frustrating, given that all I'm trying to do is get Bootcamp working on a bog-standard UK 15' Macbook Pro :-(
Any help would be very much appreciated
Greg

Your version of XP Home DOES include SP2, correct?

yeah, if not, that's probably what's causing it, as the boot camp drivers are for XP SP2

Well, the Windows XP box does claim that it's Service Pack 2 :-)

Ok, one more thing to check. In the directory structure of that disc is a folder called "i386" and in it is a file called "eula.txt". The last line in this file should be "EULAID:XPSP2_RM.1_HOM_RTL_EN" for a retail disc and "EULAID:XPSP2_RM.1_HOM_OEM_EN" for an OEM disc. Note the characters right after "EULAID:"- if it doesn't say "XPSP2" then the disc wasn't properly labeled. I doubt this is the case, but it's worth looking at. And you CAN do this with your Mac-text files are text files.
What's more likely to be a problem is that the disc is just slightly dirty and some files got corrupted. Clean the disc carefully and try reinstalling XP.
And good luck.
