Ive run the boot camp assistant and partitioned and put my windows xp cd in and click on the intall windows button in the bootcamp assist...my Imac restarts, and the windows setup screen comes up, I select the partition, format using ntsc quick format, windows installs and then the restart screen comes up where it says windows will not restart in 15 seconds. The computer restarts and then the computer proceeds to run the windows setup again off my windows xp installation cd. What do i do to get it to proceed with the windows installation.

I have tried after the computer restarts itself to hold down the option button but the windows boot cd is the only thing that pops up and it goes straight to the windows setup blue screen...any suggestions on how i continue to install process. Thanks

and if i eject the windows xp cd now and just try to turn my mac back on it goes to a screen that says No bootable device....

and if i efect the windows xp cd and press the option button on startup i just get the screen whre i should be able to either select mac or windows and nothing pops up instead, im just able to move the mouse around.

Are you hitting a key on the keyboard when the prompt to "press any key to boot from CD" comes up? I've done that a few times and it's maddening when you find out you've spent an hour trying to un-goober a problem that was between your own ears the whole time.

Anyway, basically the iMac should boot from the HARD DRIVE for this (and subsequent) Windows install reboots. If it's not, you may have a problem with your disc or you may need to check your iMac's firmware-this is what allows you to boot from a Windows disc in the first place. The iMac MAY need an updated firmware to be "really" compatible with Boot Camp. Please see the "The RIGHT Firmware" thread stuck at the top of this forum.

Oh, and WELCOME to the MacNN Forums!
