Well, I tried the Transporter function to migrate a VPC 6 XP install that was on my iBook but copied to my MPB C2D 2.33. Windows promptly crashed about 2 seconds into the boot sequence. I tried deleting and "re-Transportering" the file. Same result.

Here is a recap of the config. If anyone could tell me whether anything is obviously hosed up in the config, I would appreciate it.

Memory: 512 MB
Floppy Disk
Hard Disk 1: 15359 MB
CD/DVD-ROM 1
Network Adapter 1; Shared networking
Sound
USB Controller

I'm resurrecting this thread because I haven't found much else here about Transporter. I'm thinking about using it to migrate one of my PCs into a Parallels VM, but would like to hear from anyone who has used it successfully.

Guess I'll have to be the guinea pig--I'm surprised no-one else has used it. I'll post back when I get it done.

In case anyone wants to know, I tried Transporter today and it went very smoothly. I migrated a custom-built "real" PC running XP over my network to a Parallels VM. I had to reactivate Windows, but I expected that.

Much smoother than my attempts to get Parallels to use my Boot Camp partition!
