Just realized after I cracked open my Home Premium edition of Vista that the Home versions of Vista only support 1 CPU. So, on my Mac Pro, it only uses CPU #1 and disables CPU #2. So, for those of you who want/need Vista on a Mac Pro, make sure you get Vista Business or Ultimate so you can use 2 CPUs.

I believe you can pay to upgrade from one version to a higher version.

According to this Vista Home Premium supports 2 CPUs and an unlimited amount of cores.

They didn't get it right. Both Home versions are 1 CPU limited. I don't have a screenshot, but I played around a bit and used the installer to install several versions of Vista (luckily, I didn't activate my copy yet). I've verified that Home Premium is 1 CPU. Business and Ultimate both support at least 2 CPUs. Well, I'll probably use my copy of Home Premium for my Mini and buy Ultimate down the line for the Pro.

Or you can go with what someone else said and just upgrade that Home Premium to Ultimate online.

Yeah, that's a possibility, but the upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate is $159. An OEM copy of Ultimate is $199 (Vista Ultimate from Newegg). I'd rather have another copy for $40 more for another computer...

...between multiple CPUs and multiple-core CPUs. all version of Vista recognize and utilize both cores in coreduo and core2duo machines.

According to MS' license for Vista Home Basic/Home Premium and Ultimate, two processors are supported: http://download.microsoft.com/docume...a3d405c074.pdf

It's on the bottom of the first page, first item of section 2.
