Normally I am not one to go around and start rumors but apple left me a voicemail which I’d like you all to hear. For those without sound it is a basically person from apple saying they are partnered up with parallels and want some input. I do not believe I can post a audio recording so you can listen to it here:

That is on my voicemail atm and i did speak with him, he is trully an apple employee. However i did not record this conversation. So they DID partner with them its just a question if they will include it or not.

you must think we are really stupid.
it sounds far too casual, more like a teenager phoning himself expecting everyone to believe him.
anyway, its not like apple to blindly tell everyone about what they are doing.

Either way it would be nice especially since it now allows you to run Parallels from a bootcamp volume and has that transparent windows desktop.

The voice mail is true. A friend of mine received the exact same phone message.

Just because they are partnering doesn't mean ANYTHING. It may be that Apple is offering Parallels with a package or whatever...

This is what my friend received:

Hello XXXXXXXX -

To follow-up on my voice-mail, I am XXXXXX Account Manager in Apple's Enterprise Group. We are partnering with Parallels, and with your recent purchase of their software, we would love to know how you are using your Macs and tell you more about what we can do for our customers.

Please let me know of a good time to reach you or feel free to call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXX

If Apple was going to include Parallels in Leopard, they would buy the company. Parallels would be too expensive to license for Leopard.

More likely is that Apple will offer a discount on Parallels with the purchase of a new Mac.

They ARE going to include something like Boot Camp-though whether it's still going to be a "dual boot" process or a switchable thing is not yet clear. This has been discussed quite a bit.

But as goMac says, Apple could buy Parallels and incorporate the technology if they wanted to. So far they haven't. Now it's possible they're waiting until Parallels "matures", but I don't think they'll jump on it before they release Leopard.

I would be VERY surprised if Apple purchased Parallels, but perhaps Apple is nervous that Microsoft will come in and buy them as well

Apple doesn't have to purchase the company. They haven't purchased Omni (AFAIK) and they still include OmniOutliner in Mac Pros, yes?

Apple would be dumb to purchase Parallels, they should sink their money and efforts into full virutualization instead, rather than the para-virtualization offered by Parallels and VMWare.

They included Omni on my MacBook.

I don't take Boot Camp seriously, I think it was one of those "hey, look what we can do now!!" type of things

Why don't you take Boot Camp seriously? It's better from a speed and compatibility standpoint, just sucks having to reboot. I prefer it over Parallels (plus Parallels hangs and hogs lots of CPU).

OmniOutliner came with the last two Macs I've purchased.

And of course Boot Camp is a "look what we can do now!" thing. Mac hardware makes for very good Windows/Linux machines - and Apple wants to advertise that. And its still much better than any virtualization system, especially when it comes to 3D graphics, access to all of the machines RAM, disk-intensive applications (the virtual drive volumes are pretty slow) and access to all CPU cores (especially if you've got 4 or more).
