I decided to run some benchmarks using Parallels 3196 and Bootcamp using the Bootcamp partition and Windows XP Pro SP2. I used Passmark's Performance Test 6.1 to test each with the exact same desktop. In the Parallels tests I had nothing runnin on my Mac except Parallels and whatever normally runs in the background (e.g. OS 10.4.8. only).

My computer is a MacPro 2.66GHz with nVidia 7300GT and 3GB FB-DIMMs. I used the install CD to Age of Empires III as my CD test disk for each.

Funny that Parallels beat Bootcamp in the memory tests. Note that some of the graphics tests could not run under Parallels.

I uploaded the results to my site as a PDF.

Naw...I use both and like Parallels or quick stuff, but Bootcamp is used for longer sessions or where speed is priority (e.g. gaming).

I use both myself. I have parallels when I want keep osx up and running and bootcamp when I want to play the occasional game or that I need to use something that is more processor intensive.

Overall for most apps parallels is quite perky and I'll generally use that over BC.

i am right there with you.
OS X = everything important and running my life and being creative...
parallels for a quick hit on a program or whatever.
boot camp for heavy gaming and that is about it.
i try not to go into windows unless i can help it as i feel dirty afterwards.
