I've been running Vista on bootcamp now since the day they've released it and the more I use it the more I'd prefer XP (of course I like osx better then either one of those).
Some annoyances are really starting to bug me:
1. C drive - I don't have write access to the root directory.
I could possibly take ownership of that but then mess something else up in windows or open up a yet another security hole.
2. Allow/Cancel. This occurs so much now that I blindly hit allow, not quite what MS had in mind but I believe I'm not alone That means this security mechinism is useless.
Side note on UAC - did you know that its color coded to the type of risk - I wasn't aware of this until I read something, but then I've been blindly hitting allow.
3. Roaming - what hell is that, I'm on my drive navigating to a folder, why do I see roaming in the address bar and why is the normal "\" nomanclature been replaced with greater then signs?
4. File explorer - M$ took a good thing and made it bad - nuff said.
5. where are my menu bars in IE and file explorer (yes I can get them back but they then look like an afterthought.)
When I first started using vista I thought it had some things going for it that OSX didn't, i.e., they leap frogged Tiger but after using it ,quite the contray OSX is still much better. Vista isn't all bad, the GUI feels much faster the OSX's but after you get beyond the bloat and issues. If I have to use windows I suppose XP is still much better then vista.
