Ummmmm...... How did you lose it?

Anyway, in your C:/Windows/System32 directory, there's a file called "Startup Disk.cpl". This is the Control Panel applet you're looking for. One way to see if you need to "add" this back is to load Tweak UI. This little baby will tell you what applets are currently available to you, and it lets you hide any you don't want access to all the time. If there's an empty box next to "Startup Disk" in the Control Panel pane of Tweak UI, all you have to do is check that box and the applet will be back.

But the first thing is to make sure that applet is still there. Check for that first.

I had XP loaded as my boot camp partition. In order to do the Vista Upgrade yet be able to start with a Full Vista version, I loaded Vista using the option that makes the current XP become windows.old in a separate folder.

So therefore, it was like having a fresh install of Vista on a Mac, while having had XP previously.

So thanks for that info, I'll have a look and see if I can recover those files from the old folder.

You should be able to copy the "Startup Disk.cpl" file to the Vista equivalent of "system32" folder. This may or may not be the solution, since I'm not sure about how Vista's Control Panel will deal with the ".cpl" file.

That will let the Startup Disk panel show up in the Control Panel; unfortunately, the program will not run under Vista at the moment. Guess we'll just have to wait until Apple decides to officially support Vista, possibly with Leopard.

Thanks for the input. I was afraid that there would be "issues" with XP applets under Vista.
