I have Parallels 3188 set up to use my Bootcamp partition on my 2.66GHz MacPro with 3GB memory. Parallels is so slow to start up (just parallels, not Windows XP or Ubuntu) I usually force quit it. Parallels also hogs my CPU so much I can't do anything while it's stuck trying to start up.

This doesn't happen all the time, just usually. Once it starts XP or Ubuntu it's fine. Oh, one more thing, is there any way to not enter Windows XP login password twice when starting from BootCamp partition?

Thanks.

EDIT: After rebooting all's fine. You'd think 3GB would eliminate the need to free memory and I figured when Parallels allocated 1GB to XP it would free up (almost like defrag) enough contiguous memory to work. Looks like I learned something today... (p.s. it's be nice to be able to delete a post).

No, deleting a post that might make you uncomfortable, but that teaches an important lesson would be counterproductive. This one tells us all that NO MATTER WHAT, a reboot is a good idea when you're encountering a problem. I'll even theorize that you ran into this immediately after installing Parallels, or at least after creating one or both of your VMs. I never saw anything that said I should reboot after setting up my own XP VM, but it refused to properly start it. So I rebooted and BINGO! Fixed! This is good information for Parallels users, and something that the coders at Parallels should take into consideration-at least a warning that says "you may have to reboot after constructing a virtual machine" would be very helpful.

P.S.: thanks for not just editing out your post's content. That's REALLY frustrating for everyone, especially me, because there's no way to figure out what the post said or what the issue had been. Leaving it here and explaining what happened REALLY helps!

Good idea...I had just installed Parallels but didn't think I needed to reboot since I have 3GB and nothing other than ordinary stuff running in the background.
