I can't finish the setup of the Beta For Parallels. I put in my Product Key and it asked for an Activation code. I spent over an hour, a literal hour, on the phone with Microsoft telling my story 11 times being bounced from Customer Service to Activiation Dept to Tech Support and back again. One supervisor wouldn't even give me her name and transferred me to another department. They ALL asked for my Installation code/number and I told them I didn't have one...then they said they don't support Mac or I couldn't use it in a virtualization application, etc. It was absolutely horrible.
I have installed XP Home using Bootcamp with no problem, but I still can't find anyone at Microsoft to give me an Activation number. They claim it can NOT be done without that Installation number/code.
How is everyone installing this application with no Activation Code?!? Help please!

If I understand what your stating, you already activated XP home on bootcamp and you now need to do the same with parallels.
Why not have parallels just use the bootcamp installation?
As for running the same copy of xp on bootcamp and parallels you can do it, and I'm a little surprised at the run around you got. Most people reported a fairly easily process. They just explained that its activated in bootcamp and they need a new activation number for parallels which is running on the same machine (keyword here since the xp license is for a single machine)

Why don't you have an installation code? Are you using a hacked up pirated version?

I bought XP Home online and I do have the product key. There is no listing for an installation code when I try to install Parallelis, unlike Bootcamp XP process. It just prompts me for the product key and the next window asks for an activation code.
How do I have Parallis use my Bootcamp volume?

When you call Microsoft, you tell them that you are reinstalling Windows on the same machine. They will give you an activation code without any hassle. Don't mention Parallels, Macs, or virtualization.
As for using your Boot Camp partition, see the Parallels documentation.

Won't they ask for my installation number/code? Every person I got on the phone with yesterday started the phone call with that.
