Hey Guys,
I would like to know if I can make my Macbook to boot with one OS, Windows Vista. I would like to remove Mac Os X cause I need more space on my Hard Disk as it has a capacity of 80 Gb Only.
Is there any way to delete the Mac Partition?
Thanks For Your Help,

Boot off the Vista installer disk, delete all the existing partitions, and create a new partition covering the whole 80GB disk.

Why did you get a Mac then? You could have just got a PC laptop for half the price. Thats like buying a damn good race horse just to ride and not race, so much wasted potential....

While it is your choice, I'm confused as to why you chose a Mac to do your .Net programming with. While the MacBook is indeed one of the coolest laptops around (along with the MacBook Pro), it isn't the "right" machine for running a Windows OS exclusively. As C.A.T.S said, you could have bought a much less expensive PC laptop with Vista installed already and had a lot of money left over for what you spent on your MacBook. Thus many of us are very confused...

Seems like you could do most .NET programming (unless your doing performance-critical graphics) inside Parallels or VMware.

I got my MacBook for 1,283.74 EUR. I got the one with the 2ghz Core 2 Duo, Dvd Writer, 1Gb Of Ramand 80Gb Harddisk.
In Malta, a laptop with the same price got a 2.9 Rating In Vista. My MacBook got 3.1. In Malta laptops are very expensive due to the fact that company's can't buy in large bulks due too are small population resulting in small demand. Only 500k Ppl live in Malta.
Thus for me it was a first that I got a MacBook, and for a terrific price for the specs it has compared to other laptops with the same price.
Hope that Clears Everything Out,
DaN

That does make more sense. And as described before, you don't need Boot Camp to install Vista on your MacBook. But you DO need Boot Camp to create the driver disc you'll need to get all the parts of the MacBook WORKING with Vista. I'd recommend downloading and installing BootCamp, using the tool to burn a driver disc, and then shut down the MacBook. Now insert the Vista install disc and just go with it-it should work ok.

So at Start Up at the moment, it's displaying the option to boot up with Mac Or Windows. When I remove the Mac Partition, that option should be removed and it will boot up with Windows Directly?
Bdw Guys, any of you guys do gaming with Mac Os X?
Thanks for all your help,

If you have an external drive with a Mac OS Extended partition, you may want to install the Mac OS onto that in case for some reason in the future you need to boot into OS X (for example, to run Boot Camp again in order to burn an updated drivers disc).

Does vista support EFI out of the box? Because if it doesnt I think he will have trouble booting if he wipes the entire drive as that will get rid of the EFI partition at the beginning of the drive.

I don't think so, I was able to load both Vista and XP w/o boot camp.

Vista and EFI is a sordid history... I think the latest is that neither 32 nor 64-bit support EFI now, but 64-bit will in the future.
But once you've run BootCamp once, the CSM is installed in the machines firmware, so wiping the drive shouldn't be a problem.

Not really he likes macintoshes but he needs to run vista instead of OSX. Besides why are you on his case?
I know quite a few people who chose a mac but only for the hardware, putting windows on it.

EFI and Windows Vista
No support out of the box for EFI and vista 64-bit. So I would make sure that when you run the Vista installer make sure you do not erase the EFI partition on the hard drive. Just erase the OSX partition only. So after installing only vista your hard drive should have 2 partitions, EFI and vista.

No need, I installed Vista (and xp) on a clean drive without any efi partitions. Those extra partitions, AFAIK, are needed/used for bootcamp to allow switching the partitions when you select which os you want to boot in, either by the system preferences or control panel (depending on what os your in)

K so I can delete all partitions, from the Windows Installer and Install Vista on a Fresh Hard Disk. C
C.A.T.S. CEO, no my signature doesn't contradict this post cuz I love Mac Hardware dude.
Im ashamed to say that I have to remove Mac Os X but I have too. The course im in chose Visual Studio.Net as there main programming language and I have to use Windows for that.
And also, try running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Mac like mine it does actually use the hardware the Mac posesses to it's full potential.
And finally here's a little story about Call Of Duty 2 On My MacBook. I don't know if you've heard of cases like these before. So i'm a fan of Call Of Duty 2 Multiplayer, and on my Desktop Pc it's installed, it's a Windows Powered Machine. So then I thought on my Mac i'll install it through BootCamp. So it would install properly, apply all the patches and then when I try to start the game "Direct X Error". I contacted Activision Customer Care and they told me that it doesn't work on Intel Integrated Graphics Chips. I bought the Mac Version of Call Of Duty 2 off E-Bay and it worked
brilliantly. Now did the Hardware change whilst the game was coming from E-Bay? Or does Mac Os X Host a potential to gamers like me?
Best Regards,
DaN

I'd avoid using the 64bit flavor of vista. You're going to run into driver issues as Apple (so far) is only supporting the 32bit version and as you know if the driver is not signed it will not load. I've also read reports about some games running into issues with the 64 bit version. Other then more memory available there's no reason to go with the 64bit vista.
As for COD2, I was running that on my Macpro w/o any problems (the windows version) but it does sound like its a driver issue. Did you burn a bootcamp cd, or are you using the default drivers supplied by microsoft?

How so? I'm not sure what you mean. While I think OSX is a superior OS in a lot of ways, I'm not getting your point of wasted potential by loading or using windows.

No Activision said that the WIndows Version Of Call Of Duty 2 doesn't support my Intel Integrated ChipIntel 945GM) thus displaying a Direct X Error. But on Mac it works perfectly.
Bdw do you play Call of duty 2 Multiplayer mac128k-1984?

Well that makes sense since OSX does not run direct-x and no I don't play multiplayer. I have two 16 month old twin girls, my game playing time is short and abrupt I generally get only a few minutes here and there.

Never said it was getting better, but so far nothing beat how hard it was when they were born. They woke up every three hours around the clock for 6 months. Talk about the walking dead, I cannot believe how my wife and I survived only a few hours of sleep at night - for 6 month!

And before you start on about "lack of knowledge" or "not being up on things," I should point out that I'm a Computer Scientist and in grad school after yet another degree-I DO know what I'm talking about when it comes to this shorthand.

Actually I let this thread go in spite of the fact that its title violates one of our rules (titles must be descriptive). Since I didn't see it until there were many posts in it, I figured it'd do more harm than good to change the title, or correct the OP. But in the future, KiD WILL be subject to a good chewing out if he/she fails to follow this rule. It's purpose is to HELP get people to see what people post, because a lot of us scan, as cgc mentions, and we just don't bother with threads whose titles don't match what we are interested in. "Help Pls!" doesn't match ANYTHING I'm interested in, but as a moderator I must look at every thread and every post in this forum to ensure that sanity and order prevail. No, I don't think I'm up for a bonus this year!
