I recently decided to give Boot Camp a try on my iMac core 2 duo, and I thought i would try installing a non-SP2 windows installation disk, because I couldn't find one with SP2.
The installation was a complete success, but I then realized the driver for the Ethernet port needed service pack 2, so I'm using my neighbors wifi, which is slow.
I downloaded service pack 2, and when I tried to install it, I got a message about 1/12th of the way through, saying I needed an extra 4 megabytes of space for the uninstaller. Sounds like a normal error message, except for the fact I have 8.6 gigabytes free on the Windows partition. I tried it on my external hard drive, same error message, but on that I had 76 gigabytes free.
Is there any other way i can install service pack 2?

This is why you MUST use a version of XP with Service Pack 2 when you install-ALL the drivers Apple provides are in the SP2 model, and quite aside from the fact that there are no SP1 or earlier-type drivers for the iMac hardware under XP, one big change Microsoft made with SP2 was a completely NEW driver model-which all of the Apple drivers are built to.
You seem to have quite a bit of knowledge about Windows. Simply slipstream SP2 into your SP1 installation disc (see the sticky threads at the top for how to do this) and you'll be fine. My MBP runs on a pre-SP1 copy of XP I got a long time ago, but I slipstreamed SP2 into it and it installs and runs fine.

I tried that. I have a question. When you slipstream a disc, does it edit the original windows install, or do you have to burn a new one with the new files, and if you do have to burn it, what do you name the disc?

You burn a brand new disc; it's not possible to edit your original Microsoft Windows XP install disc, because it's pressed, not burned. And you can name it Fred if you want-it doesn't matter at all. My slipstreamed discs are usually named descriptively-"WinonMac" for the configuration I use on my MBP, "MultiDrive" for the copy I slipstreamed for my PC desktop with multiple hard drives, etc. (Yes, they're slipstreams from separate, "genuine" MS discs, one per computer.)
