Hello, all. I searched the forums, but I can't find any posts that describe a problem exactly like mine...

I've got a 15" MacBook Pro, 2.16 GHz with 2GB of RAM, about 9 months old, with OS 10.4.9 and Windows XP on a FAT partition. Just today, when I turned it on while holding the Option key, the screen came up where you can choose which mode to go into: Mac or Windows. The colors suddenly went all wonky and corrupted, but I was still able to choose to go to Windows. The color problem carried over into XP, where it looks like I only have 16 colors for some reason. I tried rebooting in OS X, and the color corruption carries over to the Mac side as well. The wierd part is that sometimes when I close the lid while in XP mode, the colors go back to normal when I wake the computer back up.

It was almost impossible to register for these forums since I couldn't see the letters on the "I am not a bot" test, and even reading forum posts is kind of hard. Has anyone had a problem like this? It must either be a driver issue with the graphics card or a hardware issue, right? The graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1600 with EFI driver version 01.00.068. Anything I can do short of bringing it to the nearest Apple service center, which is a few hours away by bus?

Thanks!

Well condsidering it's happening in both OS X and Windows XP, it definitely sounds like a hardware issue. I think you should take it to your local Apple store, they will most likely swap it out for a different one or send it off for repair.

I have the exact same problem... this thread is pretty old - is there a solution to it yet?

As mentioned, possibly a hardware problem since it's happening in both OS X and Windows. I would recommend running the Apple Hardware Tool CD and make sure there isn't anything wrong.

Ok, solved it!!! I have searched everywhere and couldnt find a solution. So I tried resetting the PRAM, something I should have done ages ago, and BAM, corruption solved in OSX and Win Xp. Simple.
