Hello All,
I decided to try Ubuntu. I had a spare Mac mini G4 lying around so I thought I would make better use out of it. However, it turns out the Canonical (creators of Ubuntu) axed PowerPC support. So I downloaded and installed edubuntu (educational Ubuntu) on my mini because it had a PPC version. I wiped out the OS X partition and put edubuntu over it. I start it up from the hard drive and everything was OK. I played with it for a while and then shut it down.
This morning, when I turn it on, the mini flashes the question mark of death. Ahh! I inserted the edubuntu install disc but the mini still flashes the question mark. I reset the PRAM, PMU, etc. but to no avail. What can I do now? Do I have to open the mini, take out the optical drive, plug it into my other computer to eject the stuck CD?
