Hi,

As I am a Mac user forced to use Windows at work I blatantly post a question about an iTunes error on XP Please forgive me.

About two weeks ago I got this error (in screen shot) in iTunes. When I hit OK the program terminates itself. I uninstalled iTunes, installed again and everything was fine. Until this morning. Same error again.

Since I am a lazy bastard I would like to find the cause of this instead of installing over and over again whenever this error comes up. However, pretty much the only thing I know on Windows (and care to know) is the on and off button on the hideous Dell under my desk.

Anyone have an idea of what is causing this?

Download iTunes fresh and reinstall it. It's apparently something that is buried in the support files that are only seldom used, so you don't get the problem all the time. This could be caused by a lot of things, but a fresh download of the installer should help whatever the cause was.

ARGH!

You jinxed me!
I read this thread, opened iTunes to deauthorise it and get the exact same error.
So much hassle just to deauthorise it so that I can install Ubuntu.

Any ideas?

I'm currently uninstalling the M$ development environments I had installed, with no luck.

I've uninstalled and re-installed iTunes twice, i just want to deauthorise this machine!

If you can't get iTunes to open and go to the iTunes store to de-authorize, you can use the Apple / iTunes site to de-authorize ALL computers. PITA to set-up the ones you still want to have access, but it works.

Got there in the end.

Uninstalled a bunch of stuff and updated to 7.3.

Solved.
