Hi, I am new to MAC and I have just bought a Macbook pro and used bootcamp
to run Windows XP, everything is fine, but I notice, bootcamp does not auto
load at start up, I need to go into the program file folder to click on it
to load...but I saw in regedit, that Bootcamp is set to load during
startup...I cannot use the fn keys without clicking bootcamp manually..can I
make it to be auto load?

When I entered Windows XP after startup, I sometimes need to wait for about
2-3 mins before I can open My Computer, IE, Outlook, etc... but sometimes it
is very smooth after startup and no need to wait... has anyone have this
same problem?

I put in a DVD movie in the dvd drive and try to use Windows Media Player to
play the disc, but it said I am missing a DVD decoder to run the disc... but
I can use the drive to read Data DVD... how to solve this problem..?

Thanks for all your help....and sorry for long post...

Get VLC for Windows to solve your codec/video problems. It's the best video player app out there.

VideoLAN - Free Software and Open Source video streaming solution for every OS!

For the other part - are you saying you want your Mac to boot into Windows XP by default?

Thanks for the codec I will test it out ^^

I have already set the macpro to load XP by default..but the problem is, after its boot into windows, I always need to wait for about 3 mins, for it to be ready to be used, and during that 3 min, whichever icon (My computer, IE, etc) I clicked on the desktop, will have no response... and during that 3 mins, its like the macpro is loading something at the system tray at the lower right corner..
Also another problem is, bootcamp doesnt load by itself when boot into windows, I need to manaully go into the program files folder and reload it..without reloading it, all the function keys will not work, including the keyboard backlit and the dvd eject button...
Thanks for helping out

You might try reinstalling Windows and/or re-running the drivers installation using boot camp 1.3b.

It sounds like you have a lot of stuff loading at startup. Click Start|Run and enter "msconfig" in the box, then press Enter. Click on the Startup tab and you'll see a list of what's being loaded at startup (and where the instruction to load it is located). An antivirus program MUST run at startup-preferably before everything else. Otherwise most other programs and services can be manually loaded, at least until you figure out what's the primary culprit in slowing your startup.

Of course if you don't have an antivirus program, that could be the root of your problem too-a Mac running Windows is STILL a Windows computer, and it DOES NEED an antivirus program. Search Google for "free antivirus" and you'll see a couple of decent ones in the first page: AVG and ClamAV (which will probably show up as ClamWin). Either of these is decent and effective.

Nothing wrong with NOD32, it's just not one I am experienced with. As long as you HAVE AND USE an antivirus program, then you're probably just running into a problem with something that takes forever to load. Check msconfig as I mentioned above.

I found out that the main cause to slow my MBP down during startup is the wireless connection detection...I have turn if off and its running very smoothly now...

I have also tried the VLC codec and its working fine using the VLC player, but then when using windows media player to play the same DVD disc..its saying im missing codec....

That's the point - VLC the application will play them for you. Use it in Windows or Mac OS X for cross-platform, near-universal media viewing.
