I have the PowerPC ISO of 7.10, burnt it to a CD, and restarted my Powerbook, holding down the option key (If I dont it just boots into OS X)

From here, the back light turns off, but the screen is still slightly visible and it is still showing the option to boot from a CD or Macintosh HD. I choose the CD, then the screen goes completely black and disc just spins every couple of minutes...

Any suggestions?
Mac:
15" Powerbook G4 1.33 GHz, 512 RAM
Next Purchase:
If all goes well, a Quad Core Xeon Mac Pro by next year...if not...iMac...
Aluminum Macbook, whenever those come out
iPod:
16 GB iPod touch, 30 GB iPod 5G, 8 GB iPod nano 2G
Next Purchase:
32 GB iPhone, whenever that comes out...

Here's a version of Ubuntu that I've gotten to work as well in the past.... I can't remember exactly where I downloaded Yellow Dog from at the time - I've since erased it.

Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)

I can tell you that when I tried the one in the link above, I had to use the 'live-nosplash' command on boot up for it to work. I'll have to let someone else field any real questions about it, though, as I'm not even close to a Linux expert. I've only really gone as far as booting it up and playing around a bit before ultimately going back to OSX.

Cheers.

SUNET's Index of /pub/os/Linux/distributions/yellowdog/iso/YDL-5.0.2-APPLE-CD-IMAGES

Worked for me.

I have the PPC live CD of Ubuntu 7.04 and it will boot and I can use it, but I get the same black screen when I try boot the PPC live CD of 7.10.

I get to the part where you can press enter or type 'live'. It even says try live videoonly or something like that, but that doesn't work for me either.

My PowerBook will get past that screen, past a white screen, then sit on a black screen and the cdrom drive will eventually spin down.

I gave up.
