On the Mac side, Startup disk refuses to list a PC partition I have.

Both the 'option' menu at startup and the Startup disk- utility on the 10.5 DVD do list it, however and I can boot Windows from there.

It just went missing from the Mac OS X side after a nasty incident with an earlier version of Parallels basically killing the Windows install. I re-installed Windows, got rid of Parallels (on this machine, for now) and all is well, except I'd like to get the startup disk item back.

Any pointers on how, please?

I'd backup the Windows partition from Windows and then run the Boot Camp Utility again. It sounds like there's some sort of metadata in the boot record that Parallels goobered up, and that information may be what the boot manager is looking for when it tries to list bootable partitions. That may be an extreme solution, but it may be what it takes.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to look into that. There's just this slight itching curiousity to figure out where that info is hidden, so I guess I'll tinker around a bit, still...
