So here is something I'm curious about...

I recently saved up the cash for a new 24" iMac. All I can say is – Wonderful machine.

I am a graphic designer who uses Leopard and the CS3 suite to do design work– front row for the media fun– etc. However, I love to do some gaming every now and then, so I run Vista when it's time to game.

So the question is... since Vista requires an NTFS partition, and Leopard uses Mac OS Extended(?), is there any way I can re-format my drive to have the Mac partition for Leopard, the Vista NTFS partition for when booting in Vista, AND a shared partition where I can store all my music, movies, PC game installations, etc. that both OS' can recognize?

Here is my idea:

320gb avail. >>> [ 100gb NTFS ] > [ 150gb MacOS ] > [ Remainder = Shared ]

Let me know is this is possible! Thanks

Since Boot Camp still doesn't play nice with multiple partitions, I'd go a different route. Buy an external drive (or assemble one with a nicely priced bare drive and an inexpensive USB or Firewire (or both) enclosure). When you connect to the drive by USB, you will probably need to be concerned about the format, but since it won't have any OS on it, using FAT32 isn't a major problem.

Boot Camp Assistant for the Windows partition. Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder) for the Mac partitions. Cake. You could make the shared partition a FAT partition so both Mac OS X and Windows can see it, or purchase MacDrive (fantastic little program) so Windows can see Mac OS volumes.

Oh, and this question should be in the Alternative Operating Systems forum. Moved this post here to consolidate the OP's threads into one that's in the right forum. Glenn
