I have 195gb dedicated to HFS/Leopard, and a 90gb partition created by Boot Camp. I created the Boot Camp partition from Leopard, obviously, and when I restarted off of the Vista DVD, it said it can only install Vista on an NTFS partition. Like the Boot Camp guide said, I clicked the "BOOTCAMP" partition from the Vista installer, clicked Delete, then installed it on the partition it created.

Now... every time I start into Vista it says:

"Warning: Unrecognized partition table for drive 80. Please rebuild it using a Microsoft compatible FDISK tool."

Anyone know how I rebuild the partition? I have no clue what is going on.. but Leopard and Vista both function fine from what I can tell, but may be a little sluggish? I can't tell. Any help would be appreciated!

Use the Boot Camp Utility to eliminate the old partition and start over. The Vista installer should simply offer to format the partition (appropriately) for you without any fuss.

Bah, already tried that... here are the steps I took exactly:

1. Fresh install of Leopard
2. Updated Leopard using Apple Updater
3. Double-Clicked Boot Camp
4. Divided up the HD 195GB MacOS, 90GB for Vista, then clicked Partition
5. "BOOTCAMP" partition appeared on the Desktop
6. Inserted the Vista DVD, clicked "Begin Installation"

7. MacOS restarted, Vista install took over
8. Vista install asked which partition I wanted to install the OS on
9. I clicked the "BOOTCAMP" partition, and Vista said "Vista requires installation on an NTFS drive"
10. I clicked "BOOTCAMP" hit "Delete", then clicked the same 90GB partition and clicked install
11. The "BOOTCAMP" name was lost, and it said "Unpartitioned space 90GB"

What in the world am I supposed to do? I didn't do anything wrong...

With XP, you need to explicitly select the "C:" partition, going by which one gets assigned as C rather than any name. I don't know if Leopard's BC is so different that this has changed. One big "hey I noticed" issue with the beta was that people kept asking how to change the name of their Windows disk as it was displayed on their Tiger desktop...

Deleting the "BOOTCAMP" partition is probably why Vista's installer choked.

Maybe it's best to just install Windows XP on the BOOTCAMP 90GB partition, then pop in the Vista DVD and upgrade to the new OS. Not sure if that can be reliable or what... or maybe it won't work at all. I love Vista and it runs beautifully, but I don't want the error on my partition every time I boot up in Windows. Not to mention, it takes a good 3-5 minutes sitting at the error screen instead of just cranking up the Vista desktop.

You don't need to delete the partition from the Vista disc. Once you select C:, it will then offer to format the drive for you for NTFS. I know, I have Vista humming along on my MacBook without any issues.

Yes. Don't "Delete" the partition. Either use the option to convert to NTFS or reformat the partition (don't accidentally reformat your MacOS partition).
