I recently loaded XP in Parallels and for some things I want it to do, it runs a bit slow. I'm going to load XP into bootcamp. In Parallels it gives me an option to boot off of bootcamp even though i don't even have xp loaded in bootcamp yet. does this mean then when i do load it into bootcamp, i'll also be able to use the bootcamp partition in parallels in coherance mode and such? so technically it would be really easy to transfer files. When i load XP into bootcamp, should i make the partition NFTS or FAT32?

Yes, once you use Boot Camp to install XP on your Mac, on its own partition, you will be able to use it with Parallels, including with Coherence.
With regard to formatting: OS X can read and write to FAT32, but it can only read from NTFS. However, there are one or two free drivers out there, which you can install in OS X and then write to NTFS drives.
Personally, I'd go with FAT32. I have a number of files over 4GB, and get tired of having to deal with FAT32's backwardness (it can't handle single files over 4GB). Also, NTFS is a more robust filesystem.

I think you meant you'd go with NTFS... And I agree. FAT32 is a very risky platform for an OS, especially one like Windows that seems to spend 90% of its time reading and writing files instead of "just working." It's fine for your data, really, but not for the OS.
Pianomankw, Google "MacFuse" for one of the better-regarded NTFS drivers. It seems to work well for a lot of people. I may just wind up installing it myself (I don't bother with Windows much anymore ( ) but I wind up being "tech support" for a lot of relatives, so having access to it wouldn't hurt at all). Oh, and my Parallels installation is based on my Boot Camp Windows partition-it works quite well.
