While installing XP pro, i realized I am missing my CD jacket and key...
so I cannot quit the install or continue it...
I tried restarting the mac, but it either wants to boot off the windows setup CD OR try to setup windows off the HD, and since I don't have my CD key, I'm trapped.
Holding option key does not get me to the screen to choose to boot into OS X
And the WinXP cd is stuck in the drive on my mac Mini
Now what??

Have you tried booting while holding the (left) mouse button down? That is one of the potential fixes I've found. The Mini is a tough nut; a slot loading drive sort of asks for stuff to get stuck in it from time to time, and most of the ways to fix it depend on having fully booted into OS X... Give the mouse thing a shot and let us know what happens.
Once you can get the Windows disc out, you can put in your OS X disc (have that handy!). The problem with not being able to get back to OS X should be fairly simple to fix from Disk Utility run from the OS X disc.

Try rebooting while holding down the 'X' key. That is supposed to force a reboot in OS X.

I'm not sure if the X will do anything. That key sequence was for back in the day when machines could dual boot into OS 9 or OS X. You can try it, but holding option and selecting the start up disk should have the same effect.

Doesn't work on a MacBook running 10.5.1.
Probably doesn't work anymore on the Intel Macs.
Sorry for the misinformation.

Ok, so I'm not as lost as I thought I was. I haven't been using Macs quite long enough to remember dual booting OS 9 or OS X, so that's why that key combo didn't sound familiar...
