Hi all!
I've sucessfully put xp and parallels on my 24"iMac and seeems to work except...
I can't connect to the internet on the "pc" side. I've set up a connection and everything but can't connect. Do I need to disconnect my mac side first? Or what?
Second question: I'm using the single "button" wireless mighty mouse and was wondering how I get the right mouse button features on the pc side. I've tried the option and click thing, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks!

Update: I've figured out the right click thing, but still can't get online on the pc side.
I have a parallels host-guest tab, and built in ethernet tab under my mac internet connections but can't seem to figure out what's going on Can someone walk me thru this, please?

Big Slick,
You do not have to disable the Internet on the OS X side before using the Internet in the Windows VM, nor should you do that. Make sure you have access to the Internet in OS X, and then open Parallels but don't start the VM. Edit your VM configuration and you'll see near the bottom of the resource list an entry for your network adapter. Select that and then look to the right and make sure that in the Device Status it is enabled and is set to connect cable at startup, the first two options, and also Shared Networking is enabled in the Emulation section just beneath those two settings. That should do the trick. You can also read about some of my experiences with installing Parallels and Windows on a MacBook Pro and iMac at John Kendrick’s Weblog Good Luck, John.

I tried the settings that you suggested, but still no dice. I had set up a new network connection, but get the error 678.
In the border on the the lower right side there are 7 icons pictured here. Hovering over the networking icon, it states the following:
Device: Networking Adapter 1
Mode: Realtek 8029 (AS) ; Shared Networking
Status: Connected
When I click on this icon, I get the following info (from top to btm)
Connect is shaded with a check beside it
Disconnect is bolded
The next three entries are all bolded as well:
Default Adapter
en0: Ethernet Adapter
en1: Airport/Wireless Adapter
Shaded is Host Only Networking
Shaded and check marked is Shared Networking

There are a number of things to try and check. First, check your network settings in Windows. Go to the Local Area Connection in Windows and check the Support tab. Make sure you are getting a valid IP address assigned by DHCP. I use Bridged Networking (Windows gets its own IP address separate from Mac OS X), so I don't recall what IP range Shared Networking gets (with Shared, Windows gets an address from a local DHCP server on your Mac, sharing the IP connection Mac OS X uses). Try clicking Repair and see if that helps at all (Windows will try to get a new address).
Are you using Airport or an Ethernet connection? Instead of selecting "Default Adaptor," try selecting the connection you are using.
Let us know what you see in the Support tab and if repairing the connection works.

Okay I got it working again.
ibook_steve: thanks for your help. Under network connections, I noticed that Windows had a "default" IP address which was different from my mac IP addy. However, I selected en0: Ethernet adapter, and BOOM! connected.
Hope this is the end of my troubles
