i have tried to get windows installed without success three different times using three different windows versions. i get the same error message 0x80070017 when the expanding files part of the installation starts. it never gets past zero percent. also, after i partition the hd and start the installation it always tells me that the windows must be on an ntfs partition which boot camp doesnt do. that is easily fixed by formating the partition, but i wonder why bootcamp doesnt do this correctly from the start.

Boot Camp doesn't do the formatting-the Windows installer does that. Shortly after you select which partition to install on (it MUST be the "C:" partition), you get a choice to format it in NTFS using a quick or thorough process-quick formats it as it goes while the thorough option formats the whole thing first and then starts copying files. It sounds like you haven't properly gotten through that part, and there may be some problems because of this. I'd use the Boot Camp Utility to delete the Windows partition and start over.

Getting the same problem. Used Boot Camp utility and when in Vista installer I've formated it. Also tried deleting the partition and creating a new one. Always get to about 14% and then get the error.
