I'm not sure what you mean by "an upgrade feature". Like XP, Vista will allow you to automatically check for and install updates, sort of like OS X's Software Update feature. Is that what you're talking about?

No, sorry I wasn't clear enough.

I mean, when upgrading from Tiger to Leopard, you could keep all of your documents, movies, etc. in the same spot and keep your settings the same. Can you do the same when upgrading from XP to Vista?

Yes, there is. I forgot what its name is, but it's there and it's supposedly working.

That would be an upgrade install in OS X. With OS X you can do an Archive and Install which does effectively the same thing but retains your old system in case you want to revert. You can't do Archive and Install with Vista, but you can install it over an existing XP installation, which should leave everything like it was. There are potential issues with this though, since not everything that works with XP will necessarily work with Vista.
