Are you sure you are talking about Boot Camp and not using something like Parallels for emulation? If you are indeed using Boot Camp, you are completely booted into Windows and should be able to see either your wireless network or your ethernet connection in the Network Connections window. When you say you can't get it to work, what exactly is not working? Are you getting a valid IP address on the Support tab? Try repairing the connection.

So you go to the Network Connections window and there's nothing there? That's not right. Did you run the Boot Camp drivers installation from the Leopard OS disk after installing Windows?

That's what it sounds like to me. You MUST install the drivers for much of the Mac's hardware to work with Windows.

My really burning question though is what the OP meant by "the downloading went very smooth." You can't get the Boot Camp beta from Apple anymore, and it actually checks the date to see whether you're allowed to run it at all, so you're not going to just casually install the old Boot Camp software. What does this "downloading" bit mean?

That's correct. Boot Camp only works with XP with SP2 that you can buy retail or slipstream a non-SP2 XP disk with the SP2 update. See the slipstreaming sticky in the alt OS reference forum on how to do this.
